Museum Glass for Custom Frames & Framing

UV-blocking agents is cured onto the surface of the glass.  This coating blocks a minimum of 97% of the most
damaging UV light rays, those in the 300-380 nanometer range. In a process known as Magnetron Sputtering, used
exclusively by Tru Vue, highly energized metals (or oxides) are then deposited in precisely controlled thicknesses onto the glass. This advanced technology ensures the most consistent, durable quality and the highest brightness
and contrast levels available. Working in conjunction with each other, the anti-reflective and UV-blocking layers
combine to produce an ultra protective, nearly invisible lite of glass.

Does Museum Glass Require Special Handling, Cutting or Cleaning?

Cotton gloves should always be worn when handling any glass to avoid injury and minimize fingerprints. To cut
Museum Glass, the score should be made on the side without the UV coating. The UV-coated side of the glass
can be identified by the ink jet printing along the edges of the lite. This side of the glass is framed toward the
artwork. It is important to make sure that any glass chips from cutting are removed with a horse hair brush prior to
cleaning the glass. Spray an ammonia-free cleaner onto a soft, lint free cloth to clean the glass. It is recommended
that cleaner not be sprayed directly on this or any glass.

How It Compares

  • Lowest reflection rating available
  • Highest brightness and contrast levels
  • Greater clarity for true color transmission
  • Most consistent quality
  • Edge-to-edge coating for less product waste, shorter cutting time
  • Blocks a minimum of 97% of UV light in the 300-380 nm range
  • Cuts like regular glass
  • No special handling procedures or cleaners needed
  • Blocks 97% of damaging UV light
  • Less than 1% light reflection
  • Over 97% light transmission

What is Museum SecurityTM Glass?

Tru Vue Museum Security glass is a low iron, antireflective coated, two-lite laminated glass product
engineered specifically for glazing works of fine art.  The unique properties of Museum Security glass
enhance, preserve and protect artwork on display as well as provide a secure environment. Tru Vue Museum
Security glass is sold only as a laminated product.

How is Museum Security Glass Made?
Using two lites of 2.5-millimeter “water white” or low iron glass, a thin multiple layer system of proprietary optical
coatings is applied to the glass substrates. Tru Vue exclusively uses this coating process, known as Magnetron
Sputtering, in the production of Museum Security glass. After coating and inspection, the two lites are laminated
using a UV blocking urethane-based interlayer. Tru Vue Museum Security glass ensures the highest brightness and contrast levels to enhance the visual experience as well as provide a secure environment for artwork.

How It Compares

  • Made in the USA
  • Water White substrate
  • Provides UV protection
  • Provides a secure glass environment
  • Highest brightness and contrast levels
  • Greater clarity for true color rendition
